Obituary for Anna Lee (nee Kachigian)

Anna Lee (nee Kachigian)

Beloved mother of Julie (Chuck) Drury, Jeffrey (Suzanne) Lee, Scott (Janine) Lee and Daryl (Sherry) Lee.

Loving sister of the late Julie Karagozian, the late Sarkis Kachigian and the late Alice Kachigian.

Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Stephanie, Alec, Tiffany & Heather.

Anna will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Anna Kachigian Lee was born September 28, 1929, in Highland Park, Michigan. She was the fourth child of Kalousd and Lucig Kachigian and the baby sister of Julie, Sarkis and Alice.
She was raised during the depression and lived in a tight community of other Armenians who all shared the same history. Her mother Lucig was a genocide survivor (as we all are).

Like all the Kachigian children Anna excelled in school. In high school she was on the women's swim team and competed for the Highland Park Polar Bears. After graduating high school in 1949 Anna attended and graduated from Highland Park Junior College (1951).
After college she began work at Henry Ford Hospital working in the pharmacy. Once a week she would take a bit of her earnings and purchase a new record album - she had quite the collection.

Not long after the loss of her father Anna's mother moved to Huntington Woods. Soon after moving to HW they needed service on their furnace and during a service call to the house Anna met the man she would eventually marry. Her favorite date was going to the Totem Pole restaurant on a Friday night and ordering Shrimp. Bill and Anna Lee were married September 1, 1956.

A year after they were married on December 25, 1957 their daughter Julie was born. She always said Julie was the best Christmas gift she ever received. They were also blessed with 3 sons Jeffrey, Scott, and Daryl.

Anna was a fun mother. She always had quirky little song she would sing and had cute nickname for her children. Quantz, Jep-e-jep, Skit-dow and Yonnie- Yonson would always laugh and giggle when she sang her songs or sang her "action movie" songs to make a situation scary or intense. (She must have gotten that skill from all the movies she saw as a kid.)

While life was not always easy Anna always had a good spirit. She watched her children grow up, leave home and get married. Jeff to Suzanne, Scott to Janine, Daryl to Sherry, and Julie to Chuck. Then of course there were all of her grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Alec, Tiffany and Heather Lee, Sara(Troy) McCubbin and Great grandaughter Layla Grace McCubbin. Her legacy, her future will carry on through their lives.

Anna is preceded in death by her parent Lucig and Kalousd Kachigian, her sisters Julie (Jack) Karagozian, Alice Kachigan and brother Sarkis Kachigan.
She is mourned by all her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and her wonderful caregivers at Sierra Homes.
Thank you for being here today to say good bye to our mother and celebrating her life. God Bless.
