Obituary for Armen Kevorkian

Born in Detroit to Paul and Marie Kevorkian, Armen passed away at the age of 88 on August 7, 2020. He was a dedicated postal employee, delivering mail in Old Redford for 58 years whose service was described as legendary. Armen’s devotion also extended to many Armenian charitable causes, both locally and globally, which he generously supported for many years.

Beloved brother of Edna (Eugene) Buday and the late Aram Kevorkian.

Loving uncle of Mary Catherine (Stephen Tupper) Buday, Michael (Moveta) Buday and Mark (Ellen) Buday.

Armen will also be missed by his great-nieces, great-nephews and many cousins.

May 1932 - August 2020

From my earliest memories, you were always there for me. I was your baby sister and you called me “Baby”... then many years later you called me “Edna” (especially in public)... in these last few years, as you needed a little more care from me, you would always call me your “beautiful sister.”

You cared, cheered, supported and stood up for me, but now your earthly journey has been completed and I can hold you only and forever in my heart. Rest well in God’s peace, my dear brother, until we meet again.

Just a few more thoughts...his love for his family, friends and all things Armenian was extended to his work, carrying mail for 58 years, being included as a family member in hundreds of families on his route, attending weddings, baptisms, graduations and funerals for many of them.

Children on their tricycles would follow him down the street as he delivered the mail. He looked out for them and cared for them and they did likewise. When interviewed at his 50th work anniversary, he said “I’m still having fun delivering the mail and I love people.” His smile and generous spirit will be remembered and missed by many.
