Obituary for Arthur Peter Fayroian

Arthur Peter Fayroian was born August 5, 1918 in New York City to Bedros and Salvi Fayroian, Armenian Genocide survivors who made America their home with a son and younger daughters , Rose and Vicki (deceased). He was a scout, athlete and artist. ��Art graduated from George Washington High School while supporting his family at an early age and apprenticing as a photoengraver. He joined the Army in 1942, landed on Omaha Beach and served in the European Theater. ��Art stayed overseas after the war and studied art and photography before returning to the States and joining his family in Detroit . There he met and married his partner in life Melina Krikorian, with whom he raised and loved five children: Sherry Seroun, Debra Gamar, Barbara Maro, Cynthia Annahid and Peter Bedros. Art was a 45-year resident of Livonia, Michigan, proudly served the Graphic Arts Union and Masons, and enjoyed an active life as a tennis player, fisherman and lover of classical music, all of which he instilled in his children. He retired as a photoengraver and moved to Florida for a short time, returning to Royal Oak to enjoy his family. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 29, 2015 . He is survived by his wife of 67 years Melina Fayroian; children Sherry Fayroian, Debra Fayroian (Wesley Jacobs), Barbara Fayroian (Roger Roth), Cindi Fayroian (Robert Watson) and Peter Fayroian (Rachael Waring); grandchildren Kreg and Keith Khezarjian, Michael Baptista, Adrienne Jacobs Ronmark, Matthew and Kimberly Watson, and Sofia Fayroian; and seven great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Tuesday at 12 Noon at St. John's Armenian Church (Vartan Room) 22001 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI (248) 569 - 3405, with a memorial service beginning at 12:15PM, followed by a memorial luncheon and at 2PM military honors will be given by the US Army. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations in Arthur's memory be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or St. Johns Armenian Church. Inurnment of his cremains will be at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia, MI.��
