Obituary for Cheryl Gay Banerian

At the age of 61, Cheryl passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 6.

Beloved daughter of (the late) Carl and Angela Banerian.

Loving sister of Carl Jr. (Harriet) and Dr. Kirk (Leslie).

Cherished aunt of Christopher, Katherine, Bradley, Michael and Carl III.

Dear friend of John Kapacs.

Visitation Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m Prayer Service at St. John Armenian Church 22001 Northwestern Highway, Southfield.

In state Thursday 10:00 a.m. until Cheryl’s 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service.

In lieu of flower memorial donations to St. John Armenian Church.

Cheryl graduated from Thurston High School in 1972, and went on to attend Michigan State University where she graduated with a Communications degree in 1975 and a Master’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations in 1976. She received her law degree from Cooley Law School in 1985.

After completing her education, she chose to work for General Motors while living in Lansing. Working in various departments within the company, she spent 37 years with GM.

Cheryl did a lot of traveling and enjoyed river cruises. Her favorite destination was France, Paris especially, where she was able to use her French.

Cheryl was dedicated to keeping fit and she did a lot of golfing throughout Michigan and Florida. She was also able to play St. Andrews in Scotland.

Cheryl adored her nephews and niece, Christopher, Katherine, Bradley, Michael, and Carl III, always spoiling them.

Cheryl appreciated her dear friend John for the unconditional love he showed her and his dedication to her healing.

She cherished life and was making plans for her retirement. Unfortunately, she left us too soon.
