Obituary for Donna L. Coffey

Donna Coffey of Farmington, MI died at home on September 14, 2015 in hospice care, surrounded by family and friends. She was 66. She was the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Smither) Coffey. Donna graduated from Royal Oak Kimball High School and Michigan State University. She worked for many years at Pappas Financial as Vice President of Insurance Operations. Always ready with a warm smile and positive outlook, Donna was blessed with many lifelong friends who remained close with her until the end. She was an avid reader, practiced yoga, loved cats, enjoyed live theater and movies, and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed her trip to Africa and bicycling through Ireland with friends. She was a devoted baseball fan, most especially of her beloved Tigers. She loved Irish music and the music of distant cousin, Chris Smither. She loved being with friends and family. After the passing of her mother, she became the heart of the Coffey family in Michigan, organizing family gatherings, hosting holiday dinners, and passing out the Christmas gifts. She was always the one sitting on the floor with her nephews, helping them assemble their Christmas toys. She was a very special, kind, generous and optimistic person. She will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her brothers Richard (Kay) and Dale (Chris) and nephews Tom, Sean, and Michael Coffey and their families, as well as extended family in Missouri and elsewhere. Two precious grand nieces, Avery and Ellie, recently joined the family, delighting Donna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sky Foundation, Inc. for the early detection of pancreatic cancer (, Angela Hospice (, or the charity of your choice.
