Obituary for Dr. Kevin George Basmadjian

Dr. Kevin George Basmadjian, at the age of 51, passed away peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sunday, October 23, 2016, with his loving family by his side.

Beloved husband of Emily Remington Smith, loving father of Christian Joseph and Carly Elizabeth Basmadjian.

Dearest son of Carole Basmadjian and the late A. George Basmadjian.

Cherished brother of Kenneth Basmadjian, Christopher (Shannon) Basmadjian, and Jennifer (David) Findling.

Beloved son-in-law of C. Craig Smith, Jr., Peggy (Forest) Merrill, and brother-in-law of Dabney (Mark) Moncher, Elizabeth (Louis) Paladino, and C. Craig Smith, III.

Nephew of the late Dorothy (Jim) Davis, the late Allen (Irene) Basmadjian, Arlene (the late Armen) Aramian, and George (Gloria) Mihertadian.

Kevin will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kevin was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and most recently resided in North Haven, Connecticut where he was the Dean of the School of Education at Quinnipiac University. Funeral services and burial have taken place in Connecticut.

A Memorial Service and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Armenian Congregational Church, 26210 W. Twelve Mile Road in Southfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) College Fund for Christian and Carly, or to the Armenian Congregational Church. Information on how to contribute to the CHET Fund will be available at the Church or may be obtained by contacting the Church Office at 248-352-0680.
