Hagop Papagan was born on February 10, 1941 in Sepastia, Turkey. At age 31 he came to the United States. He was a master jeweler and worked with various jewelers in the Detroit area. He finally joined his brother’s business where they shared their love for their craft for many years. He retired at age 62 and devoted his time to caring for his mother until she passed away. Since the death of his mother 20 years ago, Hagop had been living by himself. He never married.
Hagop was a kind and quiet man who always wanted to make others feel good. With his limited English he was able to build relationships with his neighbors who he spoke very fondly of. His sudden death leaves us with heavy hearts but our stories and memories of him will live on forever. He is survived by his brother, Vahram, sister-in law, Arpi, Nephew, Haig, Niece, Lisa, and four great nieces and nephews.
