Obituary for Helen Olson

Helen Olson born on June 1, 1933 to Khoren and Almas Kocharian-Gocharian. Wife of the late Stanton Olson. Helen passed away on December 11 peacefully in her sleep, after a long illness.

Helen was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended Home Ec. Classes at Wayne University. Helen was an excellent seamstress and knitting was her pleasure, and always a book next to her Bible on her night table to read. She was an acrobat in her childhood years and an excellent swimmer.

Helen was employed at Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Michigan for thirty years as supervisor in her Department. After he marriage to Stanton Olson, Helen moved to Fargo North Dakota and continued her employment at Blue Cross. After five years, Helen returned to her beloved Michigan. She worked at the Beaumont Health Center for seventeen years in the Dialysis Center as the programmer manager, until her retirement. She was devoted to her Armenian Religion and attended church services every Sunday. Helen was a member of the St. John’s Alter Society, St. John’ Women’s Guild and attended Bible Classes. Always a volunteer, she assisted with Festival, Palm Sunday & Picnic Baking and also assisted with sales of Bakery.
Helen belonged to St. John’s Knitting Club, knitting baby sweaters & booties and blankets to be donated to hospitals. An avid golfer you could find her enjoying her summers on the golf course.

Helen was the youngest of four siblings. Dear sister of the late Harry (Rosell) Gocharian, Alice (Armen) Safilian, Andrew (late June) Gocharian.

Dearest aunt to Douglas (Clarice) Brown, Theresa (late Mark) Bak, Lowell Gocharian, Charles (Cynthia) Safilian, Gail Lynn Safilian and Steven (Karen) Safilian and great aunt to Molly (Bruce) Jarrett, Kalib Packer, Melanie (Jim) Piana, Cimone Marie and Charles Armen Edward Safilian.
