Alice Hamparian, age 96 of Livonia, passed away February 21, 2026.  Sister of the late Albes Rose Mahlebashian, the late Louise and the late Dr. Arthur Hamparian.  Aunt of Joanne (Dale) Stockman, the late Daniel (MaryAnn) Mahlebashian and Robert (Adriana Soto) Mahlebashian. Great Aunt to Nina, Derek, Morgan, Alison (Daniel) and Matthew. Alice will also be missed by many cousins, relatives and countless friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mirhan and Dickranhoui (Dorothy) Hamparian. 

Alice was born in Highland Park, MI on April 12, 1929.  Alice and her siblings Albes Rose, Louise and Arthur grew up in Highland Park.  She enjoyed time with her extended family including the Benian, Sarkisian, Saboonjian, Kazarian, Garbooshian and Arslanian families.

After graduation from Central High School in Detroit, Alice earned her undergraduate degree and teaching certificate from University of Detroit. She taught mathematics in the Detroit Public Schools for years, including at Carver Elementary, where she earned the reputation as a very tough but fair math teacher to the many children who passed through her classroom. A dedicated educator, Alice continued substitute teaching even after retirement. …

In addition to her professional duties, Alice lovingly cared for her mother who was confined to a wheelchair for decades. Travel, gardening, tending to her Livonia home and holidays with family were activities that brought Alice much joy.

Alice will be missed and will live forever in our hearts. May she rest in peace.

The family held a private service. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church.
