Antranig "Andy" Shamelian Obituary

Antranig Shamelian, age 87, passed away peacefully at Detroit Receiving Hospital on March 14, 2021 after 14 months in a nursing home, hospital and hospice are due to the debilitating effects of typical age related illnesses.
Andy as he was affectionately known was a well known Armenian musician who played the saxophone in several bands in the late 1950's through the 1960's.

Andy was the second child of Krikor (George) and Hripseme (Rose) Shamelian, both Kharpertzies, along with his oler siste Coharig (Cara), all of whom predeceased him: his father in 1958; his mother in 1992 and his sister inn 1984 in that orfer.

Visitation Monday, March 22, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Dan Gark (Prayer Service) offciated by the Pastor, Rev. Fr. Hrant Kevorkian.

Visitation on Tuesday will begin at 10:00 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service to follow.

After the funeral, the US Army will perform a Military Honors Service and following that, a burial service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at his family plot in Detroit, MI. The cemetery is located on East Side of Woodward Avenue, just south of 8 Mile.

After the interment service, all the attendees will be invited to a Hokee Josh.
