Berjoohee Swidersky, also know as Blanche to many of you, was born on July 15, 1932 in Detroit to Koren and Maritza Torossian. She passed away on August 30 surrounded by family.
On March 22, 1969, she married Jerome Swidersky in Detroit. Together they raised their family with a home filled with love, laughter and wonderful memories.
Blanche quit her job at Chrysler after getting married so that she could devote herself to being a full-time homemaker for their growing family. They were always together and most would say that they were inseparable. It made no difference from shopping, to family outings, to worshiping at church, they were never apart.
Blanche was very active in the church. She attended services almost every Sunday where she and Jerry would operate the lights to help other parishioners to be able to follow along in the Divine Liturgy. Her and Jerry would also help with the church mailings and making mass for Sunday service. She also volunteered to help at Bingo as well as being an active member of the Women’s Guild. She was notorious for making her cheesecake and other desserts for Lenten dinners and Church Bake Sales which were highly sought after. She never shied away from helping others and always had a very big heart which reflected the maxim that is better to give than receive.
Blanche loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart. She always cherished the moment a new family member would join the family. She always took the time to teach her children and grandchildren how to cook traditional foods including the important things like pilaf, grape leaves and of course choreg. She was a patient teacher that enjoyed the time spent teaching being far more valuable than the outcome of the lesson.
Blanche always gave of herself and helped others and wanted to instill these values in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Her smile said it all and she will be missed.
Beloved wife of the late Jerome.
Loving mother of Annie (Jeff) Frase, Karan Duffy and Jerry (Tracy) Swidersky.
