Charles John Hovanesian Obituary
Age 48. Beloved son of the late Joseph and the late Julieann. Loving brother of John (Tanya). Dear uncle of Joseph, Ani and Daniel. Charles will also be missed by his uncle Daniel, cousins, friends and former co-workers. Farmington High School graduate Charles Hovanesian is remembered by colleagues at Ford Motor Company as an enthusiastic and talented design engineer and project manager. Charles grew up in Farmington Hills and graduated from Farmington High School in 1983. His favorite project, though, was leading the program management efforts for the new 2005 Mustang, where he coordinated the efforts of dozens of designers and engineers to produce an award-winning muscle car that was true to the 40 year old roots of the Mustang franchise. Said Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of Ford, "Charles had Ford-blue blood in his veins. During his 21-year Ford career, he shared his engineering talents with us as well as his unstinting enthusiasm for all things Ford - particularly the Mustang," said Bill Ford Ford executive chairman. "Even after illness ended his career here, it did not diminish his passion for the company or the welfare of the extended Ford family. We have lost one of our own...," Ford continued. Charles earned a bachelor's degree in engineering and his masters of business administration from the University of Michigan. But his brother, Dr. John Hovanesian, said his favorite project was leading the program management efforts for the new 2005 Mustang. He coordinated the efforts of dozens of designers and engineers to produce an award-winning muscle car that was true to the 40-year-old roots of the Mustang franchise. Hovanesian's brother said he had a thirst for knowledge and instead of a typical high school job, he worked one summer in an auto body shop, then harnessed those skills in an self-employed venture, buying, repairing, and selling used cars for several years before and during college. Charles was a member of Eagle Scout in Troop 179 in Farmington Hills. He was also active in his parish at St John's Armenian Church in Southfield. Funeral services coordinated by the Edward Korkoian Funeral Home in Royal Oak and will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. John's Armenian Church at 1:00 p.m. in Southfield, MI, followed by burial at Oakland Hills Memorial Park, Novi, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's or to the International Myeloma Foundation (www.myeloma.org) and may be mailed in memory of Charles Hovanesian to the Korkoian Funeral Home, 836 N Main St, Royal Oak, MI 48067.
