George passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2026, at the age of 74.
Devoted husband of Zonica, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years. Loving father to Chelsea (Michael) and Ashley (Marjan). Cherished “Poppy” to Ellis, Isabella, Daphne, Vincent, and a fifth grandchild on the way.
Dear brother of the late Elissa Beth and beloved son of the late George and Elizabeth.
George will also be dearly missed by his cousins, who were like siblings to him, their children, his many friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Raised in Detroit, Michigan, during the 1950s, George grew up surrounded by the love of family and lifelong friends. In his twenties, he moved to Schuss Mountain, where he enjoyed life as a ski instructor, golf instructor, and restaurant manager. After several years up north, he returned to the Detroit area and built a successful career as a car salesman before becoming Director of Sales at Cingular Wireless. A licensed general contractor, George built several custom homes, but his greatest professional achievement was building Ultimate Soccer Arenas — a place that became a true pillar of the community and was loved by so many.
George loved boating, cars, motorcycles, and sports, but above all else, he loved his family. He met Zonica in 1988, and their connection was instantaneous. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, who were his pride and joy. Later, becoming “Poppy” to his grandchildren brought him a whole new sense of fulfillment, and he embraced that role with endless love and devotion.
George loved his church and was steadfast in his faith. He walked in God’s image, always putting others before himself, seeing the best in people, and caring for everyone with his whole heart.
He was a truly one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable soul who will be deeply missed by so many.
