Helen Derderian Obituary

Helen was born in Akron, Ohio July 11, 1923. She was the second of four children born to Armenian genocide survivors. Before the depression, her family left Ohio and moved to Highland Park, Michigan. Then in the 1930's they moved to Dearborn, Michigan where she graduated from Fordson Highschool in 1941. She worked briefly in the accounting department at Ford Motor Co. until her marriage to Dr. Sarkis Derderian in 1945. They relocated to Flint in 1949 where she raised 3 sons. She became very active in the local professional community as well as the arts and was involved in many charitable fundraising events as well. Helen and Sarkis were involved in the development of St. Hagop Armenian Church in Pinellas, FL. She was an avid golfer and was a member at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc until her death.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Sarkis and son Dr. Paul Michael Derderian.

She is survived by her sons Dr. Sarkis Derderian (Vicky) and Dr. Gregory Derderian (Cheryl), daughter-in-law Tracy Derderian and 9 grand-children Christopher, Meghan, Nicholas, Alexander, Gabrielle (Her mother Patricia Mooradian), Noah, Gideon, Jonah and Violet.

In state Monday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. until her 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service at St. John Armenian Church 22001 Northwestern Highway, Southfield.

Burial at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, to follow Funeral.
