John Hagopian Obituary

John Hagopian was born on April 20, 1937, in Pontiac, Michigan to Haiguhi (Eginian) and Sarkis (Sam) Hagopian who were survivors of the Armenian Genocide.

John graduated from Pontiac High School in 1956 and then went on to attend Eastern Michigan University where he graduated with a degree in Finance in 1961.

In 1967 John met the love of his life, Fran Lorant, and they were married in 1968.  They had a beautiful marriage and were inseparable for the next 57 years.

John was in the Army Reserves and later worked as a Property Assessor for the City of Detroit.  He then worked for the Fruehauf Trailer Corporation as the Director of Real Estate for over 20 years until retiring in 1998.

Family was the most important part of life for John and he dedicated much time and energy to them.  He loved getting together for family dinners and talking about the Detroit Tigers.  He was also an avid golfer and for many seasons was a regular on Saturday mornings at Kensington Metropark Golf Course.  In his later years, he and Fran greatly enjoyed spending the winters in Bonita Springs, Florida where they took pleasure in playing cards, socializing with friends, and participating in Bocce where John was the ace of the community team.

John leaves behind his beloved wife Fran, sons John (Sara) and Steve (Natalie), grandchildren Steven, Seta, and Kira, sister-in-law Billie Oldziey, and nephew Nick Oldziey.  He was preceded in death by his dear sister Virginia Hagopian.
