Lois Irene (Root) Wilcox Parr, 88, formerly of Royal Oak, MI., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, with her children by her side at her daughter's home in Dickson, TN.

Visitation with the family will be 10:00 am-1:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at the Edward Korkoian Funeral Home, 836 North Main St., Royal Oak. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, in the Spiller Spitler Chapel of the funeral home with burial in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, MI.

The daughter of Archie and Alabam (Smith) Root, Mrs. Parr was born and raised in Lynch, KY., where she was elected football homecoming queen at Lynch High School and married the Bulldogs' star quarterback. In the mid-1950s, the family moved to Royal Oak.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband: Kenneth "Sandy" Wilcox; her second husband: David Parr; four brothers: Clyde Root, Melvin Root, Archie Root Jr., and Amon Root; three sisters: Betty Webb, Mary Susan Fortney and Evelyn Burke; and grandson-in-law: Steve Satterfield.

Mrs. Parr is survived by her four children: Terry (Debi) Wilcox, Deetra (Glenn) Sternall, Molly (Chris) Norman, all of Dickson, TN., and Sandy Maniaci (Robert Carriere) of Clinton Township, MI.; three brothers: Cliff Root, Danny Root and Troy (Sharon) Root; two sisters: Della (Jim) Staten and Brenda Colley; 21 grandchildren: Ben Wilcox, Jennifer (Nels) Hanson, Teresa (Will) Miller, Shannon Sternall, Mike Sternall, Brandy Sternall, Kim (Ryan) Belcher, Karmin Satterfield, Regina Betty, Carmen Hall, Onofrio (Hope) Gaglio, Bobbie Marsh, Kyle (Brandi) Dye, Kandise Dye (Chris Webster), Branden Wilcox (Sarah), Sam Maniaci Jr. (Jaqui Lukasik), Rachelle Maniaci, Briana Maniaci, Branden Maniaci, Haley Maniaci and Hannah Maniaci; 20 great-grandchildren: Andrew Miller, Dean Hanson, Sam Hanson, Joshua Sternall, Zachariah Sternall, Ethan Winnie, Cailyn Winnie, Lucas Belcher, Steven Satterfield, Justin Satterfield, Morgan Betty, Kenneth Betty Jr., Ryan Hall, Aaron Hall, Katelyn Gaglio, Austen Gaglio, Cody (Lilly) Lankford, Madison Lankford, Austin Tanner, Kinley Tanner, Gabbie Dye and Ben Dye; great-great-granddaughter Katie Lankford, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
