Lucy, Lou to her friends, was born to Verjean and Haigaz Sirounian in 1930 and was raised in Highland Park, Michigan. Lucy and her 4 siblings grew up on Labelle, amongst the many other Armenians who settled in Detroit after the Armenian Genocide.
Lucy was the oldest of her siblings and endured a lot at a very young age. Her father died when she was only 10 years old. Lucy knew her family needed her and was determined to help them. She got her very first job at the age of 14 after pretending to be 16. In fact, she bought her sister Haigouhe her very first coat.

She encouraged her siblings to go to college. She herself wanted to go but knew she probably wouldn't be able to. But that didn't stop her love of learning and became a huge history buff.

At the age of 18, she met her future husband, Mike Dorian, at an Armenian church dance. Mike was playing with some of the children there and the charming, beautiful Lucy caught his eye. Resolved to meet her, he rolled a ball to her feet to catch her attention. It worked. And, after a three-year courtship the two were married in 1952.

From the very beginning, Lucy and Mike lived the life they wanted to have. The children of immigrant parents, Lucy and Mike didn't have a lot of money. They used most of their gifted wedding money to pay for their own wedding reception. They took a small honeymoon to Miami with the little money that was left. Lucy spoke with the hotel manager when they got there and convinced him to put them up in a beautiful room at a great price. The hotel manager was so impressed with her negotiating skills, how could he say no? Throughout her life, Lucy was a consummate negotiator and enjoyed a good deal.

Lucy and her husband, Mike, made a life for themselves in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. They worked together to create a business to support their family and Dorian Ford still operates today.

Mike trusted her with everything including what he treasured most, his three children. When he was asked about what he did to raise such wonderful children, Mike always pointed to Lucy as the reason their children grew up to be wonderful adults. Lucy and Mike got a chance to travel the world together. They truly lived the American Dream.
They were married for 53 years at the time of Mike's passing.

Lucy never forgot her humble beginnings. She was proud of her heritage and where she came from. She charmed everyone she met. She was genuine and always treated people with respect and dignity.

Lucy was the type of person who would talk to the Queen of England the same way she would speak to anyone else she met, regardless of their job titles or position in life. She had a talent for making people feel comfortable and wanted. People she barely knew would tell her their life stories.

Lucy loved her family fiercely. She was protective and proud of them. She was incredibly smart and had a feisty spirit. She faced a lot of adversities in her life, but she faced them head on and became stronger.
Lucy always chose to be thankful for all the blessings in her life.

She will leave behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and generosity. She loved well and truly knew what life was all about.

She will be missed greatly.
