Sarah Kahaian Obituary

Sarah Kahaian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at 99. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the eldest of five siblings, survived only by her youngest brother, Jim Zerounian.


She was the devoted wife of the late Malcolm Kahaian and cherished daughter-in-law of Nishan and Zabelle Kahaian. Sarah leaves behind a loving family: her children Karen (Mike) Yates, Isabelle (Adam Jr.) Kazarian, Peggy (Jim) Guenther, and Malcolm Kahaian; grandson Alex (Vanna) Kazarian; and great-granddaughters Isabelle and Lucia Kazarian, whom she adored.


She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and cousins. 


Sarah was a guiding presence and a grandmother figure to many. Her love, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever remembered.


Visitation Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Armenian Church 22001 Northwestern Highway, Southfield.


Sarah’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m.


Entombment Service at 2:00 p.m. at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West Cemetery 34224 Ford Rd, Westland.


In lieu of flowers donations in Sarah’s memory are to St. John Armenian Church.
