Age 87. A resident of Tellico Village, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in Livonia, Michigan, after a short illness. She was born in Highland Park, Michigan and was the only child of Agnes Scheid and Anthony Peters. She married Robert Tacoma Sr. on October 23, 1948. Both Shirley and spouse Robert were part of a group that founded the Habitat Home Store in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Since 1995, Shirley devoted countless days building, organizing, and managing a tiny store into a successful, non-profit, charitable organization funding the building of homes for families in need. She is survived by children Janith (Martin Beres), Caroll (Richard McLellan), Robert (Sonia Tacoma), Barbara (Gerald Kjerrumgaard), Michael (Vicki Tacoma), 16 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren and Sister-in-law Eleanor Martens. She was predeceased by her husband Robert S. Tacoma Sr., and her mother Agnes Scheid. Shirley loved her Family. She lived life to the fullest, and devoted her life to helping others. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Hubert Church in Harrison Township, Michigan. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Habitat Home Store, 303 Simpson Road E, Lenoir City, Tennessee 37772.
