Vartouhie was born in Beirut, Lebanon to the parents of Kevork and Ossana Vahedjian, she was one of 6 sisters and 1 brother. In her years growing up she was a pillar to her family by working to support them as well as for her sisters to attend school. She married at age 22 to the late Haroutioun Chikidarmian and they had 4 beautiful kids Archalouys, Herminee, Yeghia, and Bedros.
In her community she was known to be giving, caring, and a wonderful cook! She always gave her time to the local school and church, as well as cared for many elderly neighbors whom she treated like family. When the war started she had the opportunity to come to America in 1978 to give her children a better life.
Once here she started to work and took on many roles, a housewife, a caretaker for the elderly, and also a cook in a restaurant. Throughout the years she remained dedicated and volunteered at the AGBU Manoogian School and local Armenian Churches. She was blessed to live a long life where she got to witness her children build their own families carrying on beautiful traditions to the next generation and making her a grandmother and a great grandmother.
After a long battle with health conditions she gained her Angel wings and will be reunited with her husband, parents, and many siblings in paradise. She’ll be remembered to everyone as “Taunt Rose” and as everyone’s grandmother —-and the family would not want it any other way! Rose, your smile will be greatly missed and your memory will be eternal.
